Ravi Ranjan Kumar

Research interests

Ravi Ranjan Kumar completed his Master’s in Marine Biology from department of Ocean Studies and Marine Biology, Pondicherry University. He is very much in to the study of Elasmobranchs. They caught his attention  during his Master’s thesis which dealt with the  diversity and distribution of landings based elasmobranchs survey from Junglighat fish landing center, Port Blair, Andaman Islands. He is also actively involving with taxonomic studies of Chondrichthyans from Andaman waters. Ravi’s Research areas also covers species composition, geographical distribution, potential fishery resources, bycatch of elasmobranchs and socio-economic studies. He also possesses an onboard experience of 64 days in FORV Sagar Sampada for deep sea Chondrichthyans (Shark, Skates, Rays & Chimaeras) collections around Andaman and Nicobar waters. He is so much fascinated by the Andaman islands and has been actively conducting landing center survey around Andaman Islands for the last 4 years.
